Keylor Navas registered the best save percentage at Brazil 2014: 91. Costa Rica were given no chance of surviving the first phase when they were drawn alongside three former champions. Navas nevertheless inspired a 3-1 upset of Uruguay and a 1-0 stunning of Italy, before a 0-0 draw with England sent them through as Group D winners.

‘La Pantera’ then repelled a Theofanis Gekas spot-kick as Los Ticos side beat Greece on penalties in the last 16. Although Costa Rica lost a shootout to the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, it remains their finest World Cup finish. Navas conceded only two goals in 510 minutes of action in Brazil – an outstanding statistic given he faced, among others, Edinson Cavani, Diego Forlan, Mario Balotelli, Wayne Rooney, Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie.
